My 21 Day Cleanse- Day 1 Food Diary

May 26 Monday:
I'm started a 21 day cleanse after watching Kathy Freston http://www.kathyfreston.com on the Oprah show http://www.oprah.com last week, she talked about her book " Quantum Wellness" conscious eating.

I am excited to start,
Breakfast:
I am having decaf coffee with almond milk and steel cut oats oatmeal with unsweetened coconut and dates sprinkled with cinnamon.
Then I will go for a 1 hour walk. Oh NO it just start pouring rain , its a good thing I got rain boots and a K-way rain coat last week. What about the dog? I think I might be one of those people that buys their dog a rain coat.

I will be making a trip to Loblaws http:www.loblaws.com and Whole Foods http://www.wholefoods.com and buying everything that I can eat for the next 21 days.
Just came home from grocery shopping, bought, some fruits, strawberries, blue berries , apples, nuts, beans, celery, red peppers , avocados,portobello mushrooms vegan gluten free waffles, vegan gluten free bread, almond butter, veggie burgers, soy milk, almond milk.

Lunch: I just made a bean salad for lunch with chick peas, red kidney beans, cherry tomatoes, red pepper, cilantro, fresh garlic, black pepper, olive oil and balsamic and fresh lemon- very good, but I'm still starving. I think i will have more because I'm leaving for yoga in 1/2 an hour. http://www.yogaflow.ca

Dinner: I BBQ"d 1 veggie burger and 2 portbello mushroom tops marinated in Canola oil and garlic and black pepper and some bean salad on the side.
I think I'm still hungry! I will have a glass of almond milk with coco powder as a treat.

Hi Joey!

I didn't see the Oprah show, I did Eldon Haas's cleansing fast last year. Not to lose weight - I've lost over ten pounds without trying over the past year and my doctor doesn't seem to be concerned - but to determine if I had food allergies.

I eased into it with fruits and veggies and gradually went down to the liquids. I found that Swanson has some amazing canned vegetable broth and it's awesome added to your turkey dressing - but I digress......

I did determine that I am probably allergic to wheat or gluten. I was conscious for a while but fell off track. Now that allergy season is in full force and aggravating my fibro, I need to get back into it so thank you for the reminder. With gas prices, that broth is a good way to go, lol! Very cheap.

Years ago, I tried slim-fast and found out just how often I was going into the kitchen for something to eat! Good luck, and I will be following your progress.

I like the term conscious eating. Sounds like you and I are on a similar path JG. One thing I started doing about 10 days ago is I bought a little notebook where I write down everything I eat and drink throughout a day.

I wouldn't mind doing this with you. Lets talk.

I'm really hungry- I'm going to drink some water and go to sleep. and wake up in 2 hours and go to the bathroom. I never knew what it is like to feel hungry- since i always eat so much. it feels like I'm losing weight. LOL looking forward to breakfast, I bought vegan waffles

Eggs and Cheese? Since I did not nor do not watch Oprah, I am trying to figure out what not eating eggs or cheese have to due with alleviating suffering. I agree with most of what you are saying about all of the other stuff especially sugar. Check your vegan waffles betcha they are loaded with sugar as it seems everything that is advertised as good for you is loaded with sugar. As for the 1 hour walk well I wish I had the determination to do that so I use the excuse of bad knees, and being 67 yrs old.

I had Gastric Bypass surgery a few years ago and lost over 100 lbs, then I got married and not have gained most of it back!!!!! So am determined to lose it again, maybe if I got divorced that would help?

Yes I will check out the Vegan waffles for sugar- I bought them in a hurry and because I was starving when I went shopping- which you should never do.
I'm having a garage sale Sunday and I was thinking what can I eat that is fast in the morning.
The main motivation for walking everyday is because I got a dog 1 month ago- you really can't say NO to walking or make excuses.
